Ethereum Revisits 2016-18 Price Cycle – New ATH in 2025 Soon?
Ethereum [ETH] is attracting attention with analysts forecasting a potential all-time high (ATH) in 2025. This optimism is based on Ethereum’s historical price cycles, which have seen surges following key upgrades and network milestones. The increasing number of active addresses on the Ethereum network suggests growing adoption, potentially priming ETH for another major price rally. Analysts predict Ethereum could surpass $20,000 by late 2025.
Grayscale’s Ethereum ETF May Stake ETH Holdings
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) has proposed a rule change to allow Grayscale Ethereum Trust (ETHE) and Grayscale Ethereum Mini Trust (EZET) to stake their ETH holdings. Staking is integral to Ethereum’s proof-of-stake (PoS) model and allows holders to earn yield on their assets. By staking through trusted providers, ETHE and EZET could potentially bolster their returns, making these investment vehicles more attractive to institutional investors seeking staking benefits.
Bybit Loses $1.4 Billion in ETH Hack Linked to Lazarus Group
Bybit, a cryptocurrency exchange, lost $1.4 billion following a major ETH hack reportedly linked to the Lazarus group. This triggered a withdrawal frenzy as investors exited the exchange en masse. Bybit's founder and CEO Ben Zhou stated that the exchange saw record withdrawal requests, all of which were handled smoothly. The hack compromised the exchange, and it remains unclear if the lost funds can be retrieved.
Ethereum Hack Triggered Price Crash—Will ETH Rise or Fall?
A major hack on Bybit resulted in the theft of $1.5 billion worth of Ethereum. This caused widespread panic in the crypto market, leading to a sharp drop in Ethereum's price. To help process customer withdrawals, Bitget transferred 40,000 ETH (worth $106 million) to Bybit, but this move triggered an even sharper price crash, with prices dipping from $2,850 to $2,630 within an hour. The incident raises questions about the future of Ethereum's price.
Why is Crypto Crashing: Bloodbath Continue or Will Crypto Recover?
The crypto market faced a significant downturn today with a global market cap drop of 1.90% to $3.17 trillion. The main reason for the fall is the Bybit hack, where $1.4 billion worth of Ethereum (ETH) and stETH were stolen. The stolen funds were quickly sold off on decentralized exchanges, causing panic among traders. Other factors contributing to the market slump include significant ETF outflows and mass liquidations.
ZachXBT Identifies Lazarus Group Behind $1.46B Bybit Hack
On-chain security analyst ZachXBT has identified North Korea’s Lazarus Group as the orchestrator behind the massive $1.46 billion hack on cryptocurrency exchange Bybit. Arkham Intelligence, which launched a bounty campaign offering 50,000 ARKM tokens (worth approximately $31,500) for credible information about the attackers, confirmed ZachXBT’s findings. The Bybit hack, which resulted in the theft of staked Ether (ETH) and other ERC-20 tokens, is now considered the largest crypto exchange breach to date according to blockchain security firm Blockaid. ZachXBT traced the stolen assets using on-chain data and submitted the evidence to Arkham, solidifying the Lazarus Group’s involvement.
